Mow patterns

It looks like the pattern is:
Mow
Smart spiral
Mow in approx same direction as before spiral
Hit wire
Turn 45 degrees
Hit wire
Turn 45 degrees more
Mow
Spiral
Wire
Turn
Wire
Turn
Mow
Etc
This is interesting because she will always spiral close to the wire. And then cross the middle and not spiral again until after hitting another wire.
So the lawn gets cut from the outside in, kind of.
Thanks for posting Betsie’s adventures. Do you think the spiral is in response to thick grass or strictly part of a repetitive pattern?
Maybe someday there will be a hackable interface for Lawnbott, like the serial interface of Roomba.
It’s supposed to be in response to long grass, or “higher blade resistance”
There are 2 spiral settings, one “smart” one “random” and she definitely spirals more often with it on smart. And my yard definitely has a bit of tall grass still.
On random she will spiral much longer, making ever larger circles. With smart spirals, she only makes a few revolutions and then goes back to the original straight direction.
It works pretty much like the manual says. And its hard to be 100% sure because my yard is so random in it’s weed thicknesses, but I think the taller/thicker grass is what makes her start a spiral.
